Qazaq Community in British Columbia

About Us

History

In 1995, only a few Kazakh families, including the family of the current Founder and President of the BC Qazaq Community, arrived in Vancouver, BC. Among the first to settle, they decided to gather friends and celebrate their shared heritage.

In March 2016, Dinara came up with the idea for the first Nauryz celebration for Kazakh immigrants living in the Greater Vancouver Area and shared it with Samal and Dina. Samal, Dina and Maulen organized the event, which took place in the party room of Samal's residence in Yaletown, Vancouver.

What began as small get-togethers evolved into an annual celebration of Nauryz, and over the years, the community has grown rapidly.

Today, the BC Qazaq Community continues to welcome new members, with the original families providing support and helping newcomers integrate, all while preserving Kazakh culture, language, and traditions.

From Roots to Unity

In the early 2000s, the first Kazakh families arrived in British Columbia, planting the seeds of a small but resilient community. As a minority in North America, we play an essential role in preserving the cultural mosaic of this land. From humble beginnings, we have grown into a united group, proudly celebrating our heritage while embracing the diversity of all nationalities and cultures.
